Turkey's role in helping the people of Gaza to overcome Israel

The chief diplomat of Venezuela noted the role of Turkey in helping the Palestinians in the face of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza.

"We appreciate Turkey's leadership in the Muslim world, its leadership in the region. "We predict that he will play an important role in helping the Palestinian people achieve this victory,"Ivan Gil said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

Gill praised the joint position of the two countries on the defense of the Palestinian people, and said he had discussed the issue with foreign minister Hakan Fidan.

Gil said they were "proud" of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's position on Palestine.

Israel has been bombing the Gaza Strip since October. 7 cross-border attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement. Continuous Israeli attacks have killed more than 29,700 people and caused mass destruction and shortages of necessities. Almost 70,000 people have been infected.

About 1,200 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the Hamas attack.

The Israeli war on Gaza has pushed 85% of the Strip's population into internal displacement amid severe shortages of food, clean water and medicines, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling issued in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop acts of genocide and take measures to ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.

However, hostilities have continued unabated , and aid deliveries remain woefully inadequate to deal with the humanitarian catastrophe.
