The Nigerian security services have succeeded in seizing 20 thousand small and medium firearms between automatic rifles and drums of various types and calibers, as well as 60 thousand rounds of ammunition of various calibers inside Nigerian territory over the past two years, especially in the North-West Nigerian regions, which are a transit point for smuggling small arms and ammunition in West Africa

The Coordinator-General of the Center for combating the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria, Harun Mohammed, said that Nigeria's efforts and successes in this regard come in compliance with its international commitments to combat the proliferation of weapons of all kinds and landmines in the world under the UN treaties.
